I have found that 'equalize' gets rid of the bells and whistles Margie mentioned in her post about scanning and restoring and' white balance' later gives a good starting point on the image.

Thanks Kerbstone. For those scanners that have Blue Ice, disabling it saves us a ton of grief. Unfortunately the owner of the photo got the scan of the slide from a family member.

Let me tell you what I see by the area on the left.  The little white tag, is one on a mailbox.  To the left of that is a space with siding and then to the left of that a door.  Why?  Because it reminds me of where momma and I lived at one time.

Candy, I think you are right. Thanks Kerbstone. This photo really has more than can be worked and using layers will help. The siding of the house can be filled in around the window and mailbox.
