Fundraising for Katrina 10 Year Anniversary and Texas Flooding

Hi Everyone,

This is a copy of the newsletter that went out today.

We have plans in the making this summer to go back to Metairie, LA on
August 28 & 29 for the 10 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. We
scheduled the dates with Chris Smith, program director at the
Jefferson Parish Library, before the flooding in Texas and the
Central Plains. Because Chris felt there was still the need for
people that had held on to their damaged photos; we felt it important
to honor our commitment. Because all the major media will be there
during that week, it seemed a perfect opportunity to have OPR in the
spotlight. Some of the people that we helped back then will reunite
with us as will OPR volunteer Robert McLaughlin. We wanted Dave Ellis
and Becky Sell to attend to, but both have prior conmittments.Before
our arrival we plan to have photos from Hurricane Katrina that OPR
restored hung in the library.

Once again we are asking for your help to fund three copy runs. At
present we have barely enough to cover going to Metairie, LA, but not
enough to cover the two copy runs planned for Austin and Houston, TX
sometime this summer or fall (dates not set). We desperately need
funding and have made every attempt to keep costs down. For Metairie
we will have only four OPR volunteers and only one copy stand. In
Austin and Houston, we have two local photographers, C.Y. Pennick and
Gabriella Nissen, which have volunteered to handle the copy stands. I
will be traveling to both and we already have some local OPR
volunteers that have offered their help. Unlike all the other copy
runs, we will not be able to give out t-shirts to the volunteers
because of shortage of funds for purchase.

Please help us to fund these three copy runs.All donations no matter
how small are greatly appreciated and keeps us going. Thanks you to
all that have donated in the past and for the tens of thousands of
