Peter, thanks for posting a very helpful video. I think with difficult photos that have parts missing, using the lasso tool and transforming works the best. I also learned something new on that video that you could lower the opacity of the transformation while moving the section into place. Always before, I  would OK the transformation and then lower the opacity to see if I needed to transform again. Dave Cross also made mention of using a slight feather, which helps prevent hard edges. I use this method a lot and with the use of short cut keys, it works pretty fast and looks better than cloning.
