I don't want the grid to show in the crop tool. How do I make "no grid" the default? Mac ps 2021.

Click on Crop Tool in the toolbar, then at the top of the screen in the Menu (where it's showing the Crop Tool options) click on the little grid icon for the overlay options. Select "Never show overlay".

Thanks!. I thought about that but "the never show overlay" I thought would remove the outer overlay.
