Is this typical?

I just downloaded an image from a gallery whose size surprised me.
The image is 2848 x 4288 at 200 DPI. The print size version is
5x7. At %100 percent resolution only a small fraction of the picture
is seen. When I reduce it to print size in Photoshop, the dimensions
of the print version far exceed the 5x7 alleged in the picture title.

My question is: Is this typical? And/or is there some glitch in
the gallery upload and or picture taking protocol that created
this anomaly?

Here I am submitting a very reduced size of the image, so that it
can be viewed for the purpose of evaluation. Maybe this type
of image is subject to a different type of gallery inclusion protocol.

Thanks for your feedback.

I would think there was an error someplace along the way. I would crop it down to a 5x7 at 300.

I don't think there is a need to modify the size or resolution while you do restoration.  I would suggest that you ignore whatever the file name suggests and leave the size/resolution alone.  Reduction of the size is not reversible.

Hi Pat,

My guess is I probably missed the sizing or naming of this image somewhere along the line.  When I prepare the photos for upload, making sure all have the proper photo size attached to the name, as well as properly sized for upload, I sometimes get so zoned out with the volume of photos that I miss some.

Schen - nice avatar!  What is this cow doing???

Chris, cow from your home state.  I tried to ask her but she wouldn't tell me.  My guess is that her left ear was itchy  :D

Yeah - cheesy - no pun intended!!  There is a reason us Wisconsin natives are called "Cheeseheads"!
