Finally I have everything running under win 8.1.1

CS3 will be my editing software for the foreseeable future and with it I use
Adobe Camera Raw
FFT/IFFT
Polaroid dust and scratches
Noiseware
A couple of Grain generators

Any suggestions for useful restoration software I should be looking at? Going crazy with nothing to restore so I might as well look at filling the disk drive up

This free contrast mask was very useful when I was using CS3.  I have been unable to install the filter in PS CC & I sure do miss it.

The site offers other free plugins, but I haven't tried them.

Athol you are very brave!

The Kodak ROC plugin can be useful when an image is hard to color correct etc.  It can help when you are stuck to tweak and adjust brightness, color etc.

I would also want the win startbutton back and install Classic Shell.

Thanks Betty,

I have downloaded it and will run it over a few images, both mine and restorations and see how it goes.

I had heard of the Kodak plugin Hannie, sounds like it might be useful so will see if I can do a trial.  OK about Classic Shell, I have resisted so far as I gather that another MS release is planned for August. I am managing to avoid the Start menu most of the time by putting aliases for all the programs I use regularly on the task bar.

However the way the system folder structure is laid out is irritating, you can end up with the same folder appearing in more than one place. I need a wet day to go through the setup and display options, if no better then a look at Classic shell is certainly on the cards.

I am impressed at how much faster CS3 is running, just need to see it run with a serious restoration.

Thank you both
