I find the filter can be less effective near the edges of the image.

Found a mention somewhere suggesting that increasing the canvas by 200 pixels or so on all sides and stroking the image with 50% grey to fill the space will give better results on the edges

Hi Athol,

I also have found that the FFT is less effective near the edges, and your suggestion to enlarge the canvas and fill with gray makes a lot of sense to me.  I will try it on a picture or two on which I have used the filter in the past, and see if my results are improved!
