Hi All, This is my first try at my first restore, and just wanted to get some input.  Not too happy about the upper right hand corner, or the man's tie in the middle of the background.  I've also not messed with the color at all, because I can't tell that it has changed from the original at all.

Hi Moorey,

Nice job on your first restore. You have done a good job of cleaning up the damage. Maybe a little more work on the tie that might help to have a little black of the suit surround the tie to break it from the background.

I always color correct first and you can tell if you photo needs some adjusting by going to either a Levels or Curves Adjustment. This photo is a little tricky, because there is a good chance that the warm yellow is from a flash or age. If you look in Levels and pull down each of the channels to view and then pull their sliders inward until they hit where there is information; you will see an improvement to the color cast of the photo. Below is what happened when doing that.

Also, made sure you remove all personal information of the owner from photos before posting. See this link: http://www.operationphotorescue.org/forum/index.php/topic,3209.msg28841.html#msg28841

Hi Meghan,

Congratulations on your first OPR restore, the damage repair looks really good!

Like Margie said already, it is a good idea to do the levels before the repairs.  When you look to the left side of this page you will see a clickable link to the Official OPR Handbook.  It has a great tutorial on how to adjust your colors.

Thanks for the tip about doing color first, I wasn't sure what was the best way to go there.  I think I've almost got the color fixed, I'll post an update soon.

At work I use CS5, but all I've got on my home computer is GIMP.  I saved a copy and deselected "Save Exif Data" so I thought it wouldn't show up.  Any GIMP users able to help me out?  I can't seem to get it to display the Exif data anywhere, so I'm not sure how to delete it manually.

This link has a download: safe-for-web-Gimp plugin that should do the trick.

Better?  Anything else that needs to be fixed before submitting?

Meghan, it looks great to me!
