I am a newbie.....I have received my first download.  That little dot machine that Hanna has been working working time on this one - I think.  Just kidding.  I think things are under control, however, this photo also appears to be on textured paper.  So 'tween the texture and the dots, I'm going wacky.  I still have to work on Dad.  Suggestions needed to rid the dot machine artifacts and what looks like photo paper texture.  Thanks so much.  Hopefully I was able to get the photos through.

Hi Lindybet and welcome to the forum!
I am so pleased that the spot machine is working this well, it surpasses my wildest expectations!

I had a close look at the original and tried the FFT filter (tool to get rid of textures with a repeating pattern) but I don't think the paper is textured, just a lot of noise there.

You already have done a great job, the noise can be reduced a little by using the Reduce noise filter at amount 10.  Then you can add a layer mask and paint (with black) over the eyes, mouth, bottom of nose, ears and frilly lace to bring back detail.
I could not download your restore so I used the original to show you what I mean.

Hi Hannie,
Thank you.  I had tried that, but not at 10.  That's one of my favorite tricks for heavily wrinkled people like me.  I have a pix of me that eeekkks you can see the roadmaps on my face, so I used that one to practice.  Took off 20 years.   I wonder why the pix didnt come through. well I'll try again. Would it have anything to do with the fact I use a different name on photobucket?.  My real name is Linda.  Thanks again.  :)
