I think the background will work, Shadow.  Probably not the dress as it stands and the clean up of her face is coming along nicely.  I'm not even close to overlaying one over the other yet.  It's been fun!

Candy, the ones that are hand painted are one of the hardest, but looks like you are off to a good start.

I'm working on it in between packing to move.  We bought a lovely home in Guthrie.  The home is bigger with less land.  We're on 3 acres right now.  Less mowing for sure!

Was able to work on the lips a bit today.

Back to packing........  :wow:

Don't mind the marks.  I'm working on contours of face, hair, and put the buttons on the correct side.

It's coming along Candy... so is the packing I hope - it seems never ending to me lol I just looked at a picture of this lady in the gallery and it seems to me she has a collar on the shirt.. what do you think..

I don't see a collar at all, Lynn.  I do see the ribbing around the neckline like there use to be with sweaters.

You're right Packing is a never ending job.  I just wrapped two stain glass frames.  Yesterday I finishing getting everything out of the cabinets and most of that is packed.  Only what we need for the next few weeks is accessible.  20 days and counting.

Candy, I would back up and go more with what you have done on your #8 & #9 posts. It's not that you haven't done a great job.  but now it looks totally painted. I don't mean that in a negative way, but rather the other 2 were hand painted over a an original photo. Those other 2 have more depth than your last one. I also realize that you are not finished, but think you have lost some of the original. I think she has a flat knit collar to go with her simple knit sweater--my thoughts. Like what you have done but am partial to the 2 previous versions.

Margie, don't forget that what I post is never the last of the last.  I always overlay the old over the new and continue to work with those parameters until I'm satisfied with the results.  These are pre - works.  I work to take out the damage and then slowly meld the old and the new.

I still don't see the collar so you gals can show me what you see, that would help.  I just see the sweater being the older cardigan style.  That's the part I was working to bring back.  There is still much to do.....

PS.... Closing is set for the 31st.

I don't see a collar either. Just a ring of thicker ribbing and a couple of buttons.

That's kind of what I'm seeing, Kiska.  In any case.... I've moved on to my first overlay....  thoughts?

Your photo is a tough restore since the original was painted.  I think her left eye is not looking in the same direction as her right eye.  It appears to be a little off.  I am working on a similar photo and having my own struggles.  Keep up the good work.

I get the same position when I overlay the original to my WIP.

I agree that is the way the original looks.  Perhaps the lady has Esotropia or maybe its me.

Maybe it will look different, Phil,  after I clean it up a eyes a bit more.  How's your picture of this girl coming along?

Post by: philbach on January 17, 2020, 10:04:46 PM
I am not doing very well with it.  Since its a painted photograph normal skin texture is not present.  And all sorts of details are missing.  If I get my nerve up I may post it, but I am not there yet.

Nice Job Candy.  One little thing.  I believe the artist and firm where from Beaumont Texas rather than Maumont.

You may be right, Phil!     Look what I found in an old Houston paper.  Also, I did change it on the picture and uploaded it to Bambi.

Thank you, Phil, and thank you for the name hint.  It sure looked like an 'm' to me.  And there is a place called Maumont.   Beaumont made more sense when you said it.

Hello I thought it best that I add my project onto Candice's since we have the same lady and studio.  Enclosed is the original and my current version.  Since it was a painted photo, for me its different from the usual.

I think yours had a bit more damage than mine, Phil.   However, I can see the BEAUMONT much better on your original.  Mine was sliding off the page.  ha ha.
You've come a long way!!   :up2:

To form the name of the studio I used a font called : Eyes Wide Open for the Van Dyek   and   Arial for BEAUMONT
