Hi all,
I just joined and I'm tentatively feeling my way around OPR and Photoshelter. I started to learn about restoring photos about 4 months ago. Initially old B&W/Sepia ones on a genealogy forum, then color ones too on a Reddit forum. It's been a steep learning curve and I'm still a relative 'newbie'. But at least Photoshop is less of a blunt instrument in my hands these days ^-^.
I have no experience with restoring water damage. So I'm going to pick a few easy ones, at least to start off with. I hope to learn more from the good examples I see here.
I'm British (Welsh) but I've lived in the Netherlands for most of my adult life.
Looking forward to getting involved!
Mike
Hi Mike! A hearty welcome to the forum. This is a wonderful place to learn and share. We manage a few laughs along the way as well ;) Look forward to your first WIP (work in progress) and hearing from you on all of ours as well!
Hi Mike, a warm welcome to the forum from Amsterdam!
Sounds like you will fit right in, good luck on your first OPR restore and don't hesitate to post your work here.
Hoping to see you around here!
Hannie

Thanks Bambi!
I wish I was in sunny LA too instead of in cloudy and rainy Breda (Netherlands)!

Better late than never. Welcome from Victoria, Australia where it's sunny one minute and raining the next.
Thanks, Tess!
Most of my family in Australia live on the east coast (in and around the Cairns area). My daughter stayed in Brisbane for a couple of months and traveled around a bit. She loved it! Victoria looks just beautiful on Google Earth ^-^ ! Are you anywhere near the Alpine national park? The local climate looks great too.
As you might have guessed, I love wild, rugged landscapes (mountains, deserts and anything rocky). That's why I moved to Holland which is as flat as a snooker table, densely populated apart from farms and motorways and where even the 'forests' are meticulously planned and cultivated ^-^.
I'm enjoying being part of such an international community and for me, Victoria is truly 'international'!
Mike
We're not near the alpine region Mike. We're close to Portland, Victoria, the oldest settlement in the state. https://goo.gl/nedKJG
This time of year we get to see the Southern Right Whale migration. https://goo.gl/7fYbwu
Mike, you have never seen the Dutch Mountains? ;)
Wow Tess. You live in a stunning place!
Hi Hannie,
I live in Breda and we have our very own local mountain! It's all of 23 metres high! ;)
Mike
23 metres high wow, you are so lucky!
Where I live it is -5,5 metres below NAP so we do swim practice on a weekly base. ;)
My idea of the Dutch mountains:

What a lovely picture. That would make a great jigsaw puzzle!
You're right Candy ... perfect for a puzzle. Wonderful pic!
I'm not a big fan of jigsaw puzzles (except restorations ;) ) but this one would drive me crazy!
Luckily, I live right down in the south of the Netherlands (Breda) where fields are smaller, trees/hedgerows are closer together and there are plenty of woods/forests to break up the flat landscape. There are plenty of places like this photo in NL with wide expanses of fields (especially where land has been drained) but it would drive me mad living in such a 'bare' landscape!
I need something to break the horizon every 1/2 mile or so. Preferably a hill/mountain but otherwise some trees. ;)
