Brand new to cs 6. I have an oval healing brush preset. As I sample different areas of the image, the brush changes orientation. How do I make it stop changing orientation????

Kisa, I was never aware of a non static change in orientation while using PS CS6 on my pc, unless I modified the healing brush tip - then the orientation stayed static as modified until I changed it again. If you are using a graphics tablet & have enabled the pressure-sensitive option on the healing brush options bar, perhaps it could be affecting the brush behavior? I don't know - just a thought.

Brush pose
Specify the stylus tilt, rotation, and pressure. Choose Window > Brush, and select Brush Pose to paint with a specified tilt, rotation, and pressure. Use a stylus to change the stroke relative to the default pose, or select Override options to maintain a static pose. For more information, see Brush pose options.

Brush pose options let you achieve stylus-like effects and let you control the angle and position of the brush:
Tilt X
Determines the tilt angle of the brush from left to right.
Tilt Y
Determines the tilt angle of the brush from front to back.
Rotation
Determines the rotation angle of the bristles.
Pressure
Determines the pressure the brush applies on the canvas.
Enable Override options to maintain a static brush pose.

Kiska, I couldn't find anything either other than the suggestion about having the caps key on. Maybe ask your question on a Photoshop Forum. One thought would be Tip Squirrel.

The healing brush can't use other brush tips like the brush tool can...only options for healing brush are size, hardness, spacing, angle and roundness...after you select the healing brush, right click while over your photo and you will get the options panel...hope that will clear up some questions...cheers...
