Title: Uploading Restorations
Post by: beckysell on August 21, 2006, 08:40:22 AM
• When uploading, go again to www.photoshelter.com/c/opr  and Login.
Click on My Photoshelter
Click on Upload to Org
Select Operation Photo Rescue as your organization
Label is as whatever you like, though I've found putting Becky or Mike depending on who gave it to you somewhere has helped me spot it quickly.
Upload and you're away!  If you have any questions about it making it, let me know.  I generally keep a list of uploads and e-mail every week or so letting you know you've been successful, but if you're unsure, drop me a line and I'll let you know sooner.

Is there a preferred format when uploading the files, such as JPEG or PSD, or does it matter?

Thanks.

Christine

I personally send the photos to the printer as a jpeg, but also open the file to check the size, color, levels, etc., so whatever file type it is sent to me as is converted.  Do whatever works best for you.  Thanks!

Can someone help me out with this?

Hope this helps...

1.   Log in from this site:  http://www.photoshelter.com/c/opr
2.   Click on "My PhotoShelter"  (ignore the dropdown menu)
3.   The second tab is "My Archive"—navigate down to bottom; "upload to org"
4.   In the "Brief Description" box, note who's gallery you got your image from, attach your file & upload away!
5.   Good luck!

:)

Oh,  one more thing...
You have to choose Operation Photo Rescue in the light green bar titled "Select Organization for this upload."  It should be available in the drop-down box...

Thanks Kerry,

This has been a frequent question in my emails, and I appreciate you spelling out the specifics.  This will help a lot of people!

I appreciate the help... but maybe I'm still missing something here?  Light green bar?  I went in from the c/opr page too.

Hi,

Have you downloaded and installed the PhotoShelter Uploader?

yes... I will poke around in that... the thing is really slow for me when it come to browsing my local files though.

K... I hit the switch button in the uploader application and the only choice I have is "My Archive".  That's what I should be looking for right?  To switch where I'm uploading to.

Oops...I said I'd try to make a tutorial about this.   :-[   I'll try to get one made and uploaded.

Sean,

You should have 2 choices "My Archive" and another one to upload to OPR " Sean's Folder" or some thing like that.

Now I may not be a lot of help here, I downloaded the new version of the uploader some time ago, and couldn't find a way to upload with it and went back to the old version - It in the left pane has a "Your Computer" button, click on that and you have the same drive/Folder heirachy as you use on the computer.

If you only have "My Archive" that should be for your personal PhotoShelter account, you can upload to it and then go to PhotoShelter and transfer the image to OPR from there.

Hope that helps.

Max

Now I know why I left Firefox before--- the spell checker doesn't work >:(

k... it's not like I don't get what y'all are saying... but what seems to be is that I simply don't have permission to do what I need to do.
(http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/453/photoshelter02vk3.th.jpg) (http://img232.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photoshelter02vk3.jpg)
Now when I click on what's highlighted there, I get an alert popup.  It says:
QuoteAlert
You are not listed as an Editor or Contributor to any organizations.
So... I appreciate all the input... but  :(
The photoshelter site does take some getting used to but I can figure out all kinds of things... except how to make myself part of the group I need to upload to.  Did I sign up at photoshelter wrong in the first place maybe?

Sean,

Do you see where it says, across the top, "My Account".  Click on that.  Then, again, across the top, you should see an "Upload to Photoshelter MU".  Click on that.  From there, in the green box, click on OPR as Organization, leave photographer blank, in the brief description, put the person's name whose gallery you got the photo from, which in your situation, you'd put "Christine", then click on the browse button to find your finished photo, then click "Upload Images", which takes several minutes.  If you cannot get to these areas in Photoshop, then there is a glitch somewhere and Dave will have to look into it.  Please let me know if this works!

Thanks.

I've made a brief video tutorial on uploading. I'll post it on the forum as soon as YouTube makes it public.

YouTube takes FOREVER to convert videos!  :D

Here it is, though:

Like I told Christine earlier, I'm not the Steven Spielberg of tutorials, I'm more like Ed Wood  :P

Kenny,

You rock!  :wnw:

Your way looks easier than mine, less hunting around---

I originally made my little list because I couldn't remember the steps ....  was happy to post it, but sorry it wasn't an easy fix for Sean.
I have "a list" for ImageShack too!...

People make fun of me because of my lists, but they sure do come in handy (when I can remember where I put them!)

Nope... that's where the process breaks down.  I posted a pic of what I get after clicking the MU option here:

Quote from: KiskaDoes this help??
Actually it does.  Being told to click on "My Photoshelter" (and ignore the drop down menu was added by someone else too) doesn't get me a page that looks like that.  It looks like this:
(http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/4420/photoshelter00rs8.th.jpg) (http://img88.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photoshelter00rs8.jpg)
I can get to a page that looks like yours though.  My Photoshelter->Image Buyer Area.  Clicking on image buyer area gets me this:
(http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5091/photoshelter06ue5.th.jpg) (http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photoshelter06ue5.jpg)
and then clicking on "Upload to PhotoShelter MU" gets me this:
(http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/5989/photoshelter05te5.th.jpg) (http://img329.imageshack.us/my.php?image=photoshelter05te5.jpg)
so... different pages, same issue  :(

Hi Sean,

I've asked Dave to look into the problem you are having, as I think it might be something on the OPR side of things causing the problem.  Hopefully, we'll have this problem resolved soon!

I posted this elsewhere, but I thought I'd place it in this thread to possibly eliminate frustration for our newbies.

Upload your completed restorations to PhotoShelter.  Once you log in you can see a line of menu items at the top.  The second from the right says "Upload to PhotoShelter MU."

Click on that and you'll go to the upload area. Under the select organization pull-down you'll find OPR.  Leave select photographer pull-down blank.

To the left you can leave a comment and to the right you can browse your computer until you find the restoration, choose it and upload. (It could take a while, but you'll get a message when the image is successfully uploaded.)  Once you've uploaded the restoration, notify your coordinator (Chris or Paula) and verify that it's been received.

Depending on how current your operating system is you can also download their uploader, which appears to me to take you to an FTP site, and uploading takes much less time.  I'm on a Mac and I had to have OSX and Java before I could use it, but it's another excellent alternative.

I have the same problem - I log into photoshelter and then after clicking the "upload to Photoshelter MU" link I get:

You are not a member of any Organizations
In order to upload images to an organization, you must be designated as an editor or uploader.

I've had trouble getting the images in the first place, maybe it is an account problem, it seems we don't have the access level required to upload files?

Hi Chris

It sounds to me as if you're not being recognized as an OPR member.  Several people have had this problem in the past.  Check with Admin -- Chris Pentecost (cmpentecost) will probably know if that's the problem, and I'm hoping she'll be able to help you. No matter how well you know your way around the site, they have to have you on file as a member.

Good luck

Glenna
