Need some help with lack of detail in clothing

The photo I am working on (below) has almost no detail except for the subject's face and collar.   The rest of the clothing is totally washed out, even in the blue channel.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to proceed?

I played around in LAB and found a tiny bit of detail. I didn't spend much time on it so there might be more information in there.

I did the basic, recommended levels and curves, stamp visible then set that layer to multiply. Outlines the boy's shirt pretty well.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't see the outlines of the clothing standing out from the damage/noise.

The top of his right shoulder will require a little guess work.
