Hi Gang, Working on this cutie from Margie's Gallery. Tried out the FFT filter to get rid of the heavy texture and got lines instead. This is my first time to try this filter and tried steps from several sites. What am I missing here? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hannie

Lyn, the original image you post I could not use to try the FFT myself.
Not sure what happened to get those stripes, what methoed did you use?  Did you stay clear away from the star in the middle?

Hi Hannie,

Here is the touched up cutie that you can use and the red channel I used with the FFT. I followed the link (among others) from your tip to Phil.  I am probably making the same misstep over & over with the FFT.

Appreciate your input. Thanks.

Lynnya

Why do I think it's the Greenway channel now days...am on the rd..will check

Lynn, it depends what built your FFT filter is, mine still uses red but I know there are some that use green.

Lynn, the stripes are caused by the 5 black dots that you painted close to the vertical line in the middle.
The other dots, it is better to paint them a little more conservatively, even better is to use this star shaped brush. (direct link to zip file)

Hannie,
Thank you SO much! Downloaded the brush and redid the FFT filter. Your screen shot was very helpful - next time I will know - paint the stars and not all the "stuff".
I followed up with Curves and then did a Smart Object Shadow Highlights so I can adjust it more/less if need be.
If you or anyone sees anything else for me to tweak (maybe the house?) - please let me know.
Have a good one.

Lyn, the right upper side of the house could be just a little darker?
