There'll be more changes along the way. But I'll be looking forward to reading some of y'alls thoughts.

How about Yikes? I was reassured when you said there would be more changes along the way. ;D Okay, seriously the one thing that jumps out and kind of early in the game, but his shoulder on your left will more than what is on your right. He is angled so the opposite side will be bulkier than the other and not a mirror image. Hope that makes sense. You have probably noticed that this photo was hand painted later. Look forward to see your progress.
Margie
It makes sense, Margie. I'll try outlining it later and get a consensus on it. It's time for bed now. I'm glad you said something about the hand painting because I thought so, too. It was all the rage ya know. :)
I'll ponder that shoulder, but right now I'm trying to see if I can recontruct his face. Oy Vey!
Handpainted, that explains why I thought it was a girl. Red lips, rouge on the cheeks.
What a challenge Candy, good eye repair!
Hannie
Candy, so glad you picked this one. You are off to a good start! Eager to see your WIPs. Enjoy. :)
Whew! This is a tough one. Thanks for taking it on, Candice.
Bambie, you know me and soldiers. I had to try. If anyone has some good hints of how to get through the white muck I'd appreciate it? I'm not stuck (yet) :) but I'm open to learning new things. I'm using PS CS4 Oh, and after working on our guy a little more, here's where I see the shoulder (stage left). Any thoughts?
PS.... not happy with his cover at this point, but it's a start. :D

Candy, great job of getting the shoulder to looking right. Best advice is to step back and then come back. The face is really a hard one.
Margie
Wow Candy. The shoulder looks good. You did wonders with the uniform. Good luck with the face.
wonderful shoulder Candy.. I'm with the others.. good luck on a difficult one..
Now that the holiday is over, I'll start in earnest again. Family came in. Wonderful time had by all!!
I haven't forgotten you all. Two days after my note of the holidays was written my husband's, 91 yr old, momma passed away. We're waiting for a brother and nephew to arrive from New Orleans on Sunday. Services will be held December 4th, Monday.
Please remember our family in your prayers.

 Thank you all so very much.
I'm back to working on my soldier. Thought I'd share where I am this morning. I've been trying to find his lips and chin...

Nice to see you back at work Candy... in the blue channel on your original it looks like he has a strong squarish chin and strongish lips..
I'll go back to look at the blue channel. Thank you, Lynnya.
......... You're right. It is clearer. Now to translate it from what I see to what I do. lol
Yeah.. tell me about it Candy... me and the blue channel are always at odds...
I know the coloration is off ... not worried about that right now.... how's the chin.

I think it's even a little more square..

Candy.. looking on my tiny screen looks good..
I have some corrections still, like the shadowing around the cover. Any one's help there would be appreciated.... still slowly he marches on. Thanks for your eyes :wow: Lynnya.

Candy, you are so brave taking this on! Way, way over my head with this one so we will just be here on the sidelines rooting you on! ;)
Shadow... I may have to sit it out with ya, if I can't get it and hand it off to one of the other masters with more experience in goo. lol
Oh Candy, what a difficult restore and how far you have come! :up2:
The chin is is quite good but could use a little more gradual shading at the bottom. I tried but I found it very difficult to do.
I did add some shading to the nose to make it narrower and shorter. Not sure if it improves things.

I'm taking lal suggestions, Hannie. I like what you've done. I've saved your suggestions and picture in our soldiers folder.
As you can see I backed up last night so I could go over the face again.

I think I've taken this young man as far as I can. What I can see, I can't seem to translate to the photo.

Candy, you have done an amazing job! Send him home.
Wow Candy..
Wow indeed Candy!!!
Here's the last one to share. I went back and looked at the jaw line, lips, eyes, and coloration. Did a few changes. I feel he is ready to go home.

Kudos Candy for working the impossible!
Thank you, Margie and everyone else. I know one thing. I gave it all I have, to bring this young man back. It's at times like these that I wish I were an artist and could bring out what I see.
Oh Candy.. if only we could.. an artist I am not..I would never attempt what you've done
