Title: Red rock vista WIP
Post by: seekingoz on February 27, 2013, 02:06:05 PM
I decided to tackle this image. I'd like to get some input to see if I've gone in the right direction or if there's something else I should be doing.

Here's an updated WIP. I don't know if it's the right decision but since there was almost no sky left, I added some wispy clouds to give it some dimension.

Judy, I like this last wip the best. This photo really is a guess game and also makes you wonder if it is early morning or sunset.

Judy - this is really a bear color-wise.  I have a suggestion that's worked for me when I've had to blend a sky into wispy foliage.  If you sample the halo of color around the trees, which is darker than the sky you've created and then use that as your sky color - either solid or as a gradient from the color in the trees to your lighter color further up, the discrepancy in the tones will nearly disappear. Very nice job on the clouds!

Thanks GK. That's a great idea.
