The Brood XIII of the 17-year cicada is emerging in our area this week. It is expected to reach 1.5 million per acre top. Down south, the Brood XIX of the 13-year cicada is also emerging this year. It is a once in 221 years event that will blow out your eardrums in the overlapping areas.

They love my hostas.  The funny thing is that I haven't heard much of their songs. Maybe because my hearing is gone.

Maybe they are still too young and feel like they have nothing to sing about?  ;-))

Beautiful flowers, Phil.
The prairie flowers start blooming here too.
My wife worked on prairie restoration and they planted these Prairie Smoke two years ago.

Meanwhile, the cicadas turned into bloodsuckers on my hostas.
