Hi everyone!

This is the first real image that I restore after the test one.

This is the original image:

And this is how it is at the moment:

I have been working more than I anticipated when I chose it, but I like it. It is such a cute baby :loveit:.

I think that the only thing left to do is finish to fix the dress. Do you see something else I need to touch? Or something that I have and I shouldn't?

Thank you!!

Julia.

Hi Julia,

Thanks for posting your 1st photo. My first thought was that you hadn't color corrected, but when I downloaded the original I realized that you had. This is a trickier photo than it first seems and that is due to the damage in baby's dress.  Nice repair of damage of other damage. Here is my version and I may have lightened the baby's skin too much.

Steps to the above:

l. Duplicated your photo
2. Curves Adjustment using the white dropper only on the dress
3. Merged Visible
4. Add new layer and filled with white and opacity of 84%. I did that so I didn't loose the shadows.
5. Did a conceal all layer mask
6. With a soft brush and varying the opacity of the brush I changed to white foreground to bring back what was concealed.
7. Merged Visible again
8. New Layer and add Level Adjustment. There is no clipping, but I wanted the photo a little lighter so I moved the center point.

Just an idea.

First, nice job Julia especially repairing the damage to the skin.  It looks great.  It's a really cute picture.

This is an interesting one.  I tried to color correct a little too and came out with the version below.  I'm not sure I like it but it made me wonder whether there's a way to know which is correct or is it more of a guessing game and just going with what you like?

Mary, good point. I will try to ask the owner, but may not be able to until later next week. Left a voice message and also sent email with the two versions to see what would be closer to baby's skin tone.

When I downloaded your version, it looks even better than it does on the screen.

Bambi

Margie's looks a little bit red, and Mary's looks a little too cool. We all have our opinions. Too many cooks in the kitchen? they're both good.

Mhayes

Bambi, I agree and went back to color balance adjustment layer and cooled it off a little. Because of the browser it looks redder on screen than it does when downloaded.

Thank you all for all your advise!

I have finished restoring the dress. As all you have suggested, I have also adjusted the white balance and reduce a little the saturation of reds. I think the dress is not completely white, maybe a pale pink, and that is why it is a little difficult to adjust the white balance.

Shadow

This was a tricky one. You did a really nice job! Thanks for sharing.  :)

Thank you!

Margie, I suppose we do not have news from the owner? If that is ok I will wait until tomorrow and upload the last one.

Julia,

I've been on vacation for a week in Colorado. I did hear from the owner:

QuoteThank you so much for doing this project !
The first photo is true to the original picture of my great niece, Zoe.
The attached photos are her today!
I'm so thankful for all the "angels" Jesus sent me during this awful time,
Thanks again,
Melinda

She hasn't seen the latest, but this was at the beginning where mine was 1st and yours 2nd. I think you did a great job, but the skin needs to be lighter. Very nice on the dress! I have not posted the pictures of the niece, because those I haven't got permission to do so.

Sorry so late, but it was great to get away.

Thank you Margie!

And don't apologize for been on vacation, that's great! I hope you had a nice time :).

I uploaded the last picture last week for Bambi, but I can uploaded again with a lighter skin. I will put it here to see if it matches the pictures that you have.

Mhayes

Sounds good, thanks Julia.

Julia

Hi,

Sorry for the delay, I had a couple of very busy days.

I have lightened up a bit the skin, is it enough?

Take into account that the image here seems flatter and less saturated than it is in reality.

Thank you!
