What a great photo!
At first I thought the bruises on the boy's legs were stains.  This photo reminds me of my daughter's childhood photos, their legs were covered in bruises like that most of the time.

Beautiful repairs Mary, perhaps the reds can be toned down some and like you mentioned some shading in the little bay's hair?

Oh Hannie!
Yours looks so good (as usual).  Please tell me what you did.
I'll add it to my notes.
Thanks,
Mary

P.S. Thanks Coop!

Oops, not sure any more the order I did the colors, I think I did a Curves layer first with gray dropper sampled from areas like the crease in the white of the shirt and in the white area of the sneaker till I found a more pleasing skin tone.

I also used a Color Balance layer with the top and bottom slider a little into the blue and cyan.

For the hair I added a Soft light mode layer and filled it with 50% gray.
I placed the blue channel version of the original next to the WIP and looked back and forth while adding black and white highlights to get the same look as the blue channel version. I do not worry too much if it is a little overdone. When I am done I give the layer a slight Gaussian blur to make it look more natural.  You can also adjust the opacity layer to you liking.

My version the skin may still be too pink?

Really nice cleanup Mary! Look forward to seeing your final. Good luck.

I tried Hannie's tips for the hair.  It's a lot better but still not "Hannie".
Also took some of the pink out then Gaussian blur.
What do you think now?
