What is he doing?

Hello everyone.  I could use a little help in figuring out what is going on in the circled area of this picture.  Is he tying his shoe, clapping his hands or what? Is he sitting on the ground or dangling his leg from a wall?  I'm confused.  Ideas would be appreciated

It almost looks as if he is holding someting.  Perhaps even something got stuck to the photo.
I really can't figure it, no matter how long I look at this image...

I studied this image for along time because I thought about choosing it. His right leg is extended almost straight out and the bottom of his foot is showing. I could not figure out what he is holding since that part of the photo seems to be faded or damaged. I assume he is putting on a shoe, boot, skate, etc. but can't really tell for sure.

Kdcintx, I did not see his foot until you pointed it out!
Now I think he was doing something like the can can (::)) and clapping his hands under his leg while raising it?
