Thumb in Photo

Recently, I worked on a photo.  In the extreme lower right, there was an obvious tip of a human thumb.  (Anyone who has ever taken a picture with a rangefinder camera or other camera without "what you see is what you get" capability can understand how that happens.)

The thumb was over an area of grass, so I just expanded the glass to remove the thumb.  In general, we try not to move too far beyond restoring what was originally there.  In this case, I chose to remove the thumb, because most people do not want extraneous thumbs in their photos.

Any thoughts?

Ken,

You did the right thing as QC would have removed it if still there. We try to stick to the original, but there is nothing wrong with improving the photo and getting rid of accidents. Now if this was part of a crime scene, we would recommend keeping the thumb in for finger prints. Okay, just kidding.  ;)
