Hi everyone,

This is my first restoration attempt.
I'm working on this photo:

It seems the hard part is the bottom:

This is what I've done so far:

Am I on the right track?

Hi Levb,

I'm wondering if you did a color correction prior to starting to repair damage.  Is the full shot the original before color correction?  You want to always make color correction your very first task when restoring a photo because sometimes pixels get changed during damage control that prevent achieving proper color later in the restoration process.

Your damage repair looks good so far.

The following OPR Forum link is good for reviewing color correction:  http://www.operationphotorescue.org/forum/index.php/topic,1304.msg13416.html#msg13416

If you go to the blue channel, you can see a bit more detail, especially in the hair. Copy the blue channel and paste it into a new layer. Then open a Brightness/Contrast Adjustment Layer and set the Contrast to 100% and you get this.

And here's an old thread to help you use the information in the blue channel. Have fun!
