Tori, I used the marque tool, selected the signature, copied, pasted into a new layer and then used the eraser tool to remove the ink that has surrounded the signature. I then cloned over the original leaving only the new layer signature to be seen, then overlaid another signature over that, doubling the color of the signature. 

Most of the work comes when the signature is zoomed up to about 500% and you slowly erase around it.  If you need to fill in the color a bit, now's the time to do it because when it's taken back down to 100%, it looks more like an original signature would.

Thanks Candy. I forgot about the eraser tool. Must have been tedious, but the result is worth the effort!
