My external hard drive is dying so I did some shopping for a new one.  I came across the ioSafe Solo 500gb external hard drive. (They have 1 TB and 1.5 TB models as well.)   It is guaranteed fireproof up to about 1500 degrees and waterproof.  I saw an article at PC World where they shot it with a shotgun and it survived.  It's $130 at Amazon.com which is high for an external drive but I figure it's worth it for the additional protection.  Doing what we do with other people's pictures I figure some of you may be interested.   :)
