Actually that's Becky's married name. The thing they botched this time is saying that I went down to the Gulfcoast with a reporter and became inspired by what I saw. The reality is that Becky went down and I was inspired by one of her photographs.

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story  Wink

Do we have a written press release that we can hand out or email to the reporters?  My experience is that written information is less likely to be misinterpreted than phone interview.  It is also more likely to be published.

This was a really  nice article. I was glad to see they included PhotoShelter and West Coast Imaging (although not by name). We really owe those guys a lot. If we had to print these photos at home (the original plan), I don't know if we would still be around. And all that emailing to send out the photos to volunteers before PhotoShelter came to our rescue! We have really grown a lot this year! I have no idea what we used to waste all that time on before OPR came into our lives--must have been cleaning the kitchen or something useful Smiley

The guy that interviewed me for this was very nice, and we talked for over an hour.  I really wanted him to stress other people volunteering, which I don't think he did as well as I would have liked, but it still ought to increase our ranks a bit.

A good friend of mine is a reporter for a local newspaper.  According to her, the articles she writes have to be local focus to be published, meaning the event has to be local event or if the event is not local the people involved in the event has to be local.  This article is about a local hero, you.  And you deserve all of it.  As a member of this wonderful organization, I am grateful that we get some publicity through you.

This is a wonderful article and I'm so proud to be a member of OPR.

As far a stressing the volunteer aspect, I've only been a member for two months, but the people I've told about this organization have been overwhelmed with the magnitute of OPR.

Just a little aside --  my computer went down last week.  The repair technician, when told what I was doing with the PC, gave everthing he had to get it back to me ahead of others, just so I could keep working on my OPR project.

I just wanted to say, "Welcome!", and that's a cool tip to keep in mind the next time I have any sort of computer repair... ;-)
