Hey everyone,

The LA Times article has finally come out. There are a few inaccuracies that I'm unhappy about. They also used a before and after that doesn't show off our best work, but there are some really nice quotes from some people that we helped.

You can read it here: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-photo10jul10,0,518898.story?page=1&coll=la-home-nation

In the end, inaccuracies and all, OPR should at least get a new round of attention.

G'morning Dave

Thanks for sharing the article.  I thought it was very positive and especially liked the fact that people who received their restorations were happy with them, even the ones that weren't perfect.  The story had more depth than most of the write-ups about OPR elsewhere.  It's going in my files!

Well it looks like the article is bringing in a new batch of volunteers. Several newbies have signed up just this morning.

Nice article Dave.  Since you were referred to as the photo doctor, do we need to address you by Doctor now?   Too Funny

Yeah that was a little corny. I feel like we should have company vehicles like the Geek Squad.

Dr. Parns... it's gotta nice ring to it, actually.

Cool article and traffic is up a bit today, not surprisingly.  LA is a media mecca so I'm sure we'll get more than a few talented recruits to add to our already winning team.

I didn't know this was in the works, is any other media exposure coming our way?

Nice job!

There's a story brewing in Missouri, but I don't forsee it as being as big as the LA Times article. Checking my email and the new forum sign-ups, I would say we're nearing 20 new volunteers today.

I also loved the article. I'm neither a journalist nor photographer so I don't see the world like Dave does (this is probably a good thing marriage wise). I don't know the ins and outs of Photoshop or the other programs you guys use on a regular basis so I don't know if any of that stuff was erroneous or just weird. As a regular old Joe, the article was wonderful. Very mushy, which are my favorite articles to read.   It was really cool hearing the family's feelings on the photos--that was great.

Regarding the company cars, can I get one in a minivan? There is no way I can squeeze all my mommy stuff into that little thing!  Smiley

Thanks everyone!

Will OPR's corporate jet have the same logo?

If we are going to pick on the article, I would said it was lacking the emotional side of the photo doctors.  I have concerns that the elaborate technical details will likely get lost by the nontechnical readers and show some inaccuracies to the technical readers.  On the other hand, showing off the tedious technical process may impress the readers of our effort.  Any good publicity is good for the organization.

I am taking orders for one corporate minivan and one corporate jet.  But I should work on completing the restoration of NunezA before fulfilling the orders.  That photo is taking much more time and effort than I expected.  The damage was not severe but is covering the whole picture.

Well as you all know I am just a newbie and not overly super skilled...but even so this was so great to read...The whole story was well written I thought..and I loved the fact that even though some weren't exactly like the original photograph..it was close enough that they could see their loved on there...

Thanks for sharing this..

Christine,

Here is the corporate jet you asked.  I thought the classy logo looks better on the jet than the geeky one.  Angela, I am still looking for a 2008 minivan for you.
