Hello everybody out there. I am honored and a bit nervous about working with such a skilled group. I hope I can hold my own and do some good. All I can promise is that I will do my best and grow as quickly as I can if I need to catch up.

Thanks for letting me try this opportunity to help.

Hi DugBuddy,

Welcome to OPR and I see Phil got you involved. You are in good hands with him. I think you will really enjoy doing this and hope we see more of you on the forum. When you have questions, post to the forum. We all started at beginners and you will learn a lot from seeing different ways to approach a problem.

Nothing like reading your handle wrong as I thought it was "DungBuddy" and I thought this doesn't sound good. Then it dawned on me there was no "n" in Dug and a totally different meaning. Other than thinking I'm nuts, you probably are wondering if I see good enough to restore.  Wow!

A big Welcome Dugbuddy!

Being fairly new to OPR myself I can tell you that everyone is very helpful.  Please see my latest post with which Tess was kind enough to help me.  Even the most experienced (not me) get help from time to time.  You have joined a family of people that are looking to help others and grow at the same time.  Never feel intimidated, we have a lot of Masters that freely offer their help.  My wife Pat & I met Phil at the Joplin copy run and I would say you are in very good company.

Thank you for joining.

Hello, and welcome Dugbuddy!  No need to feel nervous.  There are many beginners as well as experts among us and you’ll generally find a mix of photos in the galleries ranging from easy, to moderate, to difficult.

If you have time to review some of the past posts in the forum you’ll see a wealth of tips and mini tutorials that can be bookmarked for future reference.  You’ll no doubt find a few zany posts also that will make you laugh.  Even the experts around here find their eyes crossing now and then after spending hours on a difficult photo and the result is a little comic relief:

Thank you for deciding to join in our restoration efforts and we look forward to seeing more of you in the forum.

Hi dugbuddy, and a warm welcome from Florida.

I bet that every one of our volunteers felt intimidated when they first joined.  I certainly did.  I was afraid when I posted my first attempt that I'd be laughed off the forum. Since I was one of the very first members, I had no idea what I was in for.  I was delighted to discover that my cohorts in OPR are the most wonderful, helpful, people in the world.

If you have a good sense of humor and can take the guff, you'll have fun with the incorrigibles.  Personally, I'm too dignified in my old age to partake, but some of the youngsters have a great time with their shenanigans (as exemplified by Pat's links).

I look forward to seeing you on the forum and am so glad you've joined us.

Bless!

Hey, Dugbuddy:

Wading into this process can be a little intimidating. I'm pretty new, too. I can tell you one thing for sure—not one of us was as good as we are when we started. We all help each other. Put your pictures up on the Forum and read all the posts. Before you know it, you'll be helping other members through their challenges. Look forward to working with you.

Hi DB, welcome to the forum!

Don't believe a word anyone says, you should feel intimidated!  My first amazing restore was rejected by QC, how heartless...

Welcome DB from southwest Ohio. I think after reading the posts in your thread you get the flavor of this group. While you may be concerned about your talents I still take the easier ones and I have been around for a few years.  Just pick what looks like something you can handle. I know I did that on my first one, and it turned out to be more than I thought but the group got me through to the end. Having read some of the posted tutorials and web sites helped also.

When you get to a point you don't know what to do you can blame...well never mind.

Shujen, I've thought about it.  You're right.  I am.  There's too darn much evidence in the forum.  At least you didn't post any links, thank you so much! (That IS NOT a challenge. And I could never top your iron or the infamous tutu, Professor!)

P.S.  Note that I'm creeping up on 3000 posts.  The newbies are taking over, but I might make it while I can still use the keyboard.

Hannie, you have a channel I don't have (but it looks fascinating).

Tori, I think that somehow Hannie discovered the Alpha Dog channel.  Besides being the amazing Hun/Muck Monster, she pulls up some uncanny images.  Never ceases to amaze me.  I wonder if Dutch pixels get distorted by all the windmills.  Or it could be more damage by the diabolical machines in the dungeon. That sweet face is very deceptive.  (I wuv U Ms. Hun)
