I had a similar issue with detail in the little boy's tux. I selected the suit from the original, where there is still detail. (Save Selection) Then pasted it into a New Layer set to Luminosity, above the main layer. I gently removed the spots, saving the detail. Adjust the Opacity to bring up the detail. You can use your saved selection again, with a Curves Adjustment Layer to adjust the highlights and midtones for a little more definition in the tux.

It's the technique we talk about a lot in Forum. Put your Color and Luminosity on separate layers so you can adjust them separately.

It's easier to work the dress and the tux separately from the overall picture. You can also use the Luminosity layer technique on her dress. Look at it in Multiply, too.

This is a beautiful picture and you're doing great work so far.
