Hello!
I am going to give this a try Smiley. This is my first restoration attempt, and I'm hoping I can upload this and get some feedback. I have some questions about the tone of the photo. I have some questions about saturation--too much? And I am wondering about the background. There is a blue fabric running along behind the group that could use a little TLC, but I didn't know if such things were encouraged.

Please let me know of anything that seems off in any way--I am very open to criticism, especially as I have seen how elegant some of the "fixes" can be.
Thanks,
Gloria

Hi Gloria, it looks good to me. I wish it was a little larger to see better when I click on it. Sorry, but no on giving some TLC for the fabric behind. If it is water damage that would be OK, but not to retouch.

Thanks, Margie. I figured the fabric was something I would have to live with! If I can't do it in Photoshop, I think I'd like to visit the school with a pair of scissors Smiley
I thought I read that the uploads should be 600 on the long side--are these generally uploaded to galleries a little bigger?

Hi Gloria, I know on the galleries for the before/after there is a size requirement, but you can go higher than the 600 her. The main thing is to reduce it from the 300 dpi--72, 96, 120 which should work fine. I also think our site will reduce the size if it is too large--Tess may know the answer to that. Just make sure this is a 2nd copy and not your original.  Wink

Good morning Gloria,

I reviewed the original photograph.  The blue fabric was worn when the picture was taken and not part of the damage to the photograph.  So if you go to the school you will need to take new fabric to repair it.

Thank you

Little tricky with the black drop shadow around the photo, but you handled it well! Good job Gloria!  Thumbs up

Thank you all for the comments! This was a relatively easy photo, but I still struggled in spots. I ended up feeling like I may have changed the tone too much. It looked like the original had kind of a blue cast. From your responses, I assume it was ok to change that? (I don't think it was from damage)

This was a nice first experience, and I can see how you learn a little more with each restoration. I took me about five attempts to just post it!

Oh, one more thing! Mike, the blue fabric is on order, and hopefully I can get that installed in the next decade or so. Smiley
...funny how some things catch my eye, while others I can completely ignore!
