Hi everyone. My name is Sandra Crocker and I am so excited to be a part of OPR!

I was looking through my Photoshop User magazine I got today and saw an article about OPR. I was so touched.

I have a photography business specializing in high school seniors, pets and kids. I enjoy doing composites and retouching. Hopefully those skills will come in handy and I can help some people who have been through enough already.

Again, I am so excited. It feels fantastic to do good things.

Thank you,
Sandra

Hi Sandra,

Welcome to OPR and we are happy you have joined. Between your photography and retouching you should have a head start. The only difference is that we try to bring the photos back to the original state. However, you will have an advantage, but wait till you see some of our really nice ones  Evil That will be when you will want to head to the forum for some discussion on what to do.

For those who do not belong to NAPP and get Photoshop User magazine, the latest issue features our own GK her work in OPR and also a link to her famous Biloxi Beacon. Congratulations Glenna!

Don't despair for the lack of photos right now. We hope to get some coming in before our Joplin trip in October. Once we come back from Joplin, we hope to have plenty of photos and may go back later.

Thank you for the welcome, Margie.

I am reading the handbook and plan to look at all the tips and posts of your amazing restorers. I am in awe of the intricate work that has been done. I will learn a lot here. A win-win situation.

Hi Sandra

A very warm welcome to OPR from West Central Florida.  I can't tell you how wonderful it is to know that the article in Photoshop User has brought us a volunteer.  I hope you're one of many.

Believe me, your photography experience will be a huge advantage when you start on the restorations. I've been in some interesting discussions on LinkedIn about who has the "leg up" when it comes to restoring and retouching, and photographers and artists seem to come in neck and neck.

And Margie, thanks for the sweet words about the article.  I'm still in shock and pretty blown away.  I was so happy that NAPP is so supportive of OPR.

Wow - we have a huge storm coming in (I live in the lightning capital of the world), and I need to shut down my computer.

Before I do, Sandra, I want you to know how glad I am you joined OPR. Guaranteed, you'll be, too.

Cheers,

GK

Thank you, Glenna.

I am halfway through the posts here on the welcome section. Everyone, no matter their experience, is made to feel welcome and needed. Not to mention the time taken for feedback and coaching.

Like I said, my Photoshop User magazine was hot out of the mailbox today when I read the article. I bet OPR acquires numerous volunteers. You are all so inspiring.

The comparison between designer/artists and photographers as restorers should be an interesting thing to watch as I get started. I do get a lot out of my NAPP membership and Kelby training. That will most likely be the thing that lessons the learning curve a smidge.

I hope the storm is not too harsh. Thank you for the welcome. I am already so happy to have discovered OPR. I shall wait patiently for a photo.

Hi, Sandra:

If you want to learn, you're in the right place. I've learned more about photo restoration in the Forum than I did at Photoshop World. The work is rewarding on so many levels. Welcome.

A warm welcome to OPR Sandra,

Your talents will fit right in with everyone else.  As Margie said, the goal of OPR to restore back to the original condition.  Your retouching talents should help you with restoring.  Like you I am new to OPR and can hardly wait to get going as soon as we get more photographs.

Thanks, Mike. Glad to meet you. I bet in a couple of months our skills have increased substantially.

I never thought about applying the skill to help people the way OPR is doing. I am so glad to be a part of it.

Sandra,

Welcome to OPR and the forum.  I am glad we have another photographer.  Your comment in another thread shows the valuable of your experiences as a photographer to restoration.  I have a lot to learn from you.

Hannie, I am enjoying my first restore! I am seeing yellow dots before my eyes but I am making progress. The blue channel is a new trick for me and it is a miracle. I will post by Sunday. I would love to have everyone butt-in. I can not wait!

Shujen, I think I have a lot to learn from you! Pouring through the examples and tutorials on the forum and Youtube, I have a lot to learn. I will get there. I can not wait to post my first restore and get some help to finish it. Thank you for the welcome!

Sandra, welcome!

Oh, Oh, yellow dot before your eyes –very common OPR volunteer symptom –means we’ve got you hooked for good.

Looking forward to post on Sunday.  You’ll find that everyone likes to chime in (all very friendly and fun) with great tips and suggestions.  You’re going to do great here.

Thank you, Pat. I believe I am hooked. I truly can not wait to get better at this.

It is amazing how everyone contributes to the final output. I know I will need to go back and make many changes that will improve my restoration but the next one I do, I will be faster and it will look even better by the time I post for help.
