A quick introduction from someone new to the site.

I stumbled across OPR a few days ago while doing some research on photo retouching.  One of my hobbies is genealogy, and I had rediscovered some old family photos that I had worked on restoring a few years ago.  One search led me to another and I finally ended up here.

In terms of skill, I’d easily rank myself a beginner.  I’ve done some scratch and rip touch-ups in the past, and a couple of small reconstructions.  This site seems like a great place to increase my skills while also helping others.  I’m looking forward to learning what I can, and even more to helping preserve some important family documents for folks.  I started working on my first restore last night, and I’m already loving the process.

I’m comfortable with both Photoshop and GIMP, and also dabble in photography, so hopefully those skills can all be put to use. :-)

Hi Elroy,

We are glad you stumbled across OPR and think you will enjoy your stay. Right now are galleries are what's left from the Nashville copy run. Most of the photos are difficult, but when we start getting more in from the Joplin, MO tornado there will be more to choose from. Our copy run is not until October, but we plan to have photos from some of the rescue places uploaded for us to start working on.

Hope to see more of you on the forum!

Thanks for joining.

Elroy, welcome!

Sounds like you will fit right in here.  We are a fun group and you will find the forum is a wonderful place to post your work for loads of friendly advice should you have questions or run into a problem with a restoration.

We look forward to seeing more of you here!

Hi Elroy and a warm welcome to the forum from cold and rainy Amsterdam (Summer seems to have ignored us this year)
We love beginners and we're very happy that you have joined us!
