Well, needless to say this one took me longer than I thought. It was also tougher than I thought it would be, but the whole photo had spots, if not damage. Anyway, let me know what you think, and I'll make changes if necessary.

Hi David!

Weekends tend to be a little slow on the Forum. Two things caught my eye: the yellow on the left boy's neck, and the instruments on the back wall look like they are hanging in space. Maybe they need a few shadows underneath?

Hi David, yes it is a little slow on the forum and its summer. I noticed that you have been missing on the forum since April of this year and showed back up July 14---so I guess you know how it is to be missing for a spell. Sorry I was so slow, but having been up till 1 am this morning I took a break.

You have done a great job restoring this one, but like Tori mentioned what jumps out is the yellow on the boys neck and her suggestion of some shadows to ground your instruments. I think the boy's jeans with the reddish cast needs some more work.

Don't stay away so long David and hope to see more of You on the forum.

Yes, that just isnt right...  Smiley
My first thought is my eye is drawn the the items on the wall.
the wall is at a slant yet the items are even, along with a shadow might solve that one.
I also see too much purple in the blue jeans.
Could you figure out what was in the second basket? I tried to blow it up but had no clue..haha.

Ha, just as I was almost finished typing this I got another BSOD!
Life has a habit of getting in the way doesn't it.

OK David, you asked for it:  you see how the curtain is just a little darker gradually to the top?  The same gradient would look good on the purple wall.
Also perhaps tone down the thingies on the wall some?

I am going to try to attempt to write down what I did. ( I AM NOT good at this, so feel free to say 'WHAT?')
I made a copy of the photo
removed the wall items using spot healing brush
did a gradient on the wall
cropped the wall units
removed background (mind you a VERY fast job)
did a drop shadow on them
image arbitrary cw by 3
cloned the units back onto the wall
I then copied the photo again and played until I got the results on the pants I wanted.
--

--
then replaced the pants area with that.
did a few touch ups here and there and this is what I found
--

--
My apologies for being so vague, I have a hard time remembering what I did to get to the end results, but if asked I may get a memory back... Smiley
and also, my style is quite unorthodox. Sad

Well, I was finally able to get back to this photo and make the corrections that you suggested.  I hope you like this better!

Regards, David

p.s. I noticed that the photo looks like there is more red in the faces and arms! It does not look like that in Photoshop. Just thought you would like to know.....

Hi David,

On my computer with a non-synced monitor the coloring looks fine though perhaps a gradient at the top of the purple wall would help.

As I am big on straight, it is troubling to me that the headboard is not horizontal.  I believe the instruments are.  It seemed like the easiest way to make this right was to straighten the pix, and then I am assuming you have the instruments above the headboard on a layer and they could conform to the new straight headboard.  Or, if people are going to be purists and say it was crooked in the first place and should stay crooked, the instruments should be as crooked as the headboard!

It was easy to do with this tut if you have CS5 PS.
http://tv.adobe.com/watch/photoshop-cs5-feature-tour/content-aware-fill-part-1?trackingid=ITPGC

It filled in the corners from rotating with no problemsl.

Anyhow, I liked it, I thought it dark on the forum but on my computer when I cut and pasted it looked great.

You are right Judy, I forgot the gradient at the top. But as far making everything straight, I don't think I should, it would not match the original. So, I'm leaving it as is.  I did make the instruments follow the same decline as the the wallpaper border! I hope everyone will agree that it is time for this one to go home.....
