Welcome geilf to the OPR family of volunteers!

Your fellow volunteers range in skill level from novice to expert so there is no need to be nervous you’ll fit right in.  I think you will find this work extremely rewarding and also a little addictive.  The forum is a wonder place to go for help if you run into problems with your restoration efforts or just have questions in general.  We look forward to seeing more of you here in the forum.

Welcome to OPR, Geilf! It gets better with practice and you will have lots of help of the forum. We will be getting more photos coming in from the Griffin copy run and also the Joplin run in the fall. Once we start getting new photo in, keep checking the galleries.

Welcome Geilf! Most volunteers' first reaction is, 'Oh no, what did I get myself into?' But that passes as you get through your first restoration! Like Margie says, if the photos in the gallery look too challenging, wait a little bit and check back again. The galleries are updated regularly and sooner or later there will be some images you'll want to tackle.

In the meantime, try checking out the tutorials many of the volunteers have put together. They are a great source of information on techniques for different problems.

Welcome Geilf!
There is no need to be nervous as long as you pick photos from my gallery.

Welcome Gielf. When I first joined I picked a photo that I thought would be easy. While it offered a challenge I was able to complete it with help from others on the forum. I also learned a lot. So don't be afraid to post and ask questions.

Now about the distributors. They have been known to tell you anything to get you to take a photo from their gallery. Particularly watch Hannie. She has been know to mess around with zoo and circus animals occasionally. You think water damage is bad.  Cheesy You'll have to dig back a couple of years to find the post about this but I am sure it is there. As for the others, they have their own tales to get you to pick from their galleries. As you can see, don't be afraid to have some fun too. I'll just have to avoid Hannie's gallery for awhile.  We're Not Worthy!
