Hi Volunteers

I should have posted this earlier so you could have caught the original webinar (sorry!), but my understanding is that there'll be a repeat on You Tube in a few weeks.  Yesterday I attended a 2-1/4 hour webinar by Ctein on photo restoration.  It was incredible.  He, in my opinion, is way up there with Katrin Eisman, with his expertise on photo restoration.  He's a little more unconventional than Kartin, but he comes up with some startling results.  The webinar was sponsored by RetouchPro, so you can check their website to find out when the repeat will be and when he'll have new webinars.  He also has a 2nd book available on photo restoration with all new samples.  I would highly recommend either - or even better both - books.  The first one was invaluable to me.

The Retouch Pro webinars are $10 each, and I believe once they go on You Tube they're $15.  Worth every penny.

I've been catching a lot of their webinars on retouching, as well, because I'm doing that kind of work on the side, but I've noticed that many techniques are handy for restoring, as well.

Great input.

Cheers

Sounds interesting. If you happen to notice when it shows on YouTube can you remind us?

Thanks for the tip Glenna!
Webinars are great, I sometimes attend the Adobe webinars that they offer in their newsletters.

I've been finding out about most of the webinars on FaceBook.  I got on FB to try to network a bit and see if I want to start my own restoration business.  Janine Smith, one of our members and an ace pro restorer with her own established business, has a tutorial on lynda.com that's perfect for someone starting out. Even though I'd recommend it mostly for people who are relatively new to restoration, I learned a bit, too.  Janine's also a member of NAPP and RetouchPro, if I remember correctly.  I've been on FB so much that I haven't done as much as I should on any of the other networking sites.  I'll try to not be so remiss, and let you all know when I see a webinar that might be of interest. Tori, thanks for the info on Ctein's video.

Here's what I've been doing to try to get reactions, help my singing group, and decide if I can handle having a business:

Several photographers commented positively on this one, so there may be hope.

(I just copied this from my e-mail.)

On our next RetouchPRO LIVE rebroadcast, author and technical wizard
Ctein demonstrates how he restores color to these long-faded prints
(click the link below to see before/afters).

As if watching Ctein perform these near-miraculous restorations
wasn't enough, we get a bonus lesson on scanning. Nearly a half hour
is spent on proper scanning technique and fixing problems during
scanning (or at least getting a good head start on them).

Ctein also shows us some 3rd-party plugins that have been out of the
public eye for awhile, but still work wonders and provide significant
time savings for photo restorers.

Watch Ctein's full-sized desktop via your web browser as he restores
the color to these images from start-to-finish. He describes his
decisions and technique as he works, and answers questions from the
live audience.

Wednesday, June 1, 6am or 2pm CDT (see link below for other time
zones)

Click the following link for details and ticket sales:

If you're inside the US you can rent this show right now:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ce7QaDlfWn8&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/Ce7QaDlfWn8&rel=0</a>

Rentals cost a little more than the rebroadcast, but add pause,
rewind, and viewing as many times as you like over the 3-day rental
period.

Thanks Glenna - that was a great webinar! It's clear I don't  use Curve adj. layers enough.

Thanks GK! I wish I could get the live Broadcast, but my WiFi isn't that fast. However, I may try the rental, because then I could replay once it has fully loaded.
