This is the first of 3 portraits of this young girl. Just a work in progress post...

Hi Gary,

This photo is one of the leftovers that nobody wants to go near (including myself!)
Despite that I have lots to say about your WIP  Wink

Just kidding, I did notice the whites of the eye and teeth are too white or perhaps the skin tone is too dark?

Gary,

You're loony, you know, to take on this photo. Smart to isolate the images as you did. No one needs to deal with all those background spots. IF I were picking nits (which I'm not, really), I'd say that, in the foreground image, the subject's head should be rounder. And I'm assuming that as you get further on with that WIP you'll soften the cutout edges. And even if you don't go any further, the owners would be happy to get what you've already done.

Thanks Lurch/Hannie, I plan to go slow and easy on these. I have toned down the teeth and eyes and cleaned up the face some more. I do realized the shape of the hair still needs to be worked in both profiles. QUESTION: At the moment I am trying to preserve the texture of the original photo paper captured int he image instead of smoothing it all out through blurring/painting etc. Which is preferred or does it matter?

Gary, IMO that waffle texture should go, somehow. Those things rarely print well, and you might have a devil of a time getting it onto the background anyway. And I still think you're nuts for doing this one in the first place!

Gary, I can't see the texture from here but I'm sure it's there.  Somehow the background and the subjects should have similar texture or the subjects will look like cutouts?

I tried to shape in the foreground face's hair... any thoughts?

I think I am ready for a final review on this one...
