Its been a while since I have been able to work on restores so I may be a bit rusty. I think I have this one about done, still got to scan the entire photo at 500% to find more specs to correct but I believe the major damage to the background and lady has been fixed.

Great job on the background. The pic seems to have a strong green cast. I did a levels and 2 curves adjustments and I think it's closer to the original colors.

Pulling the gamma down on the green channel seemed to do the trick in reigning in the overally green look. I think I have gotten all the specks and what not so unless anyone notices something I am ready to return this one.

Beautiful damage repair Gary, great job!
Kiska, I love your color correction.  I could get something pretty close to that but what do you mean when you say 15,15,15 black and 245,245,245 white?  Do you use the Info window to find these point or do you set them yourself?

Hannie, double click the white dropper, then change the rgb channeks to 245, click 'ok'. Double click the black dropper and fill in those rgb spaces. It will then ask if you want to save the new target colors. I have and then when I open curves I just click the black/white droppers once then click on the image.

Thanks Kiska, the images + explanation really helped.
Basically, you make the white less white and black less black?  Do you use these setting for most curves corrections in RGB?

Yes, I use them most of the time. I do levels first then do the curves. Really helps with blown out whites. You could just change the 'b' in hsb to 96% and and 6%.

btw, the pic is my bff Tootles, aka Sweet Lips. Cool
