That really looks great ! I still don't know how people can "find" the original picture under some of the damages I have seen .It's intimidating to me .

Embarrassed  Hi marlene i don't mean to be intimidating at all. I don't 'find' the picture under the grunge, i put in what i think is there. It's a careless way of doing things, and there are real photoshop experts here that do all that LAB colour mode analysis, and CMYK channel replacement and a whole load of technical stuff, and that intimidates me!

You certainly did an excellent job Kevin and in short order too as I saw this one in one of the galleries just the other day!

It would be a wonderful gift to the other volunteers and OPR in general if you would be willing to make up a tutorial of your restoration of this image.  Many of the volunteers are not experts and I think your reply to Marlene just proves why a tutorial from you would be especially valuable.

Anyway great job Thumbs up

Thanks Pat. Ok i'll have a go at making a tutorial on this pic. It might take a while and it probably won't be the exact chain of events from start to finish as each picture can take you down its own alley and therefore can't remember the full procedure, but there'll be tips on how i recreate skin, how to rebuild a missing eye, things like that.

Hi Kev,

What a beautiful job you have done!  That is some fancy tailoring you did on the shirt,
The boy's skin is quite fair in contrast to his dark hair in the original photo (after levels), I feel yours also needs a little lighter skin?

 Thumbs up

Darn it! I never seem to get the colour how other folks expect it!

I'm just finishing off putting together that workflow for Pat. I'll post it up in a bit.

Relax Kev, Your background looks fine!
(I seemed to notice a little area of grayish blue in the background and I liked the color.)

Looking forward to your workfllow.
I find it very hard to describe what I'm doing when I do a restore.  I bounce around all over the place, changing things back and forth.  Most of what I do wouldn't make sense if I wrote it down, it would be a long boring story!

Hi Kevin , I didn't mean you were intimidating , I meant some of the really damaged pictures do that to me . You really did do a great job on the photo though ! And I have to agree with another post ... a little tutorial would be great .It would help me learn more also .

Hi K

You did a wonderful job on this young gentleman.  I can't get over the shirt.  It's great!  I agree with Hannie on the color correction, but that's minor compared to the cleanup you did.  I'm in awe!

I'm slowly working my way back into doing another restoration.  It's not difficult, but I'm plodding, as I've been away too long.  Need to hustle back to the work I love.

You, my friend, are a terrific asset to this crowd. I'm so glad you joined us.

Hugs!
