For those of you in the U.S. with Photoshop CS2 or higher, you might want to know that right now you can download an upgrade to CS5 for $174 or CS5 extended for $299 from Adobe.com. Be sure to check out the system requirements. With my laptop, even though the monitor 'meets' the system requirements, I can't use the Répoussé filter; everything else works fine.

Hi Tori,

I am really curious what you use the répoussé filter for?  Is it like embossing in 3D?  Is it in earlier versions of Photoshop (CS4)?

Hi Hannie,

The répoussé filter in CS5 Extended takes 2D text and converts it to 3D text like the Adobe Illustrator Extrude effect. It wouldn't have much use in restoration work, but is used for creating logos and other illustrative text work.
