 Cheesy

I spent time googling the plastic bottle & I did not find a photo.  Can I replace it with any plastic bottle?  Does it have to stay or can i replace it with background?   There is to much damage & most of the details is gone.
Thanks, MB

I think the color is better now!   I am still trying to finish the bottle... I will finish the saturation at the end... I do know that the life jackets are bright orange, that is unless they were bleach out by the sun.  I am trying to get the girl & the jacket balanced..The bottle is the problem...I cloned the blue color on the bottle & now it looks out of place.  I am not close to getting done with the photo...suggestions on the bottle are appreciated!!!!

MB,

I don't think the water bottle is Avon, because they don't sell bottled water. It could be Evian or it could be a convenience store's label. At the most you only need a partial letter on the side. Do as good as you can and the girl is the most important part.

I think you are off to a great start, but wonder if now the photo looks washed out. The girl's skin looks great except if I play with either a Levels Adjustment or if I do only a gray point in Curves, the girl comes out looking sunburned and her life jacket is a brilliant red. I know I harp on color correction that is too red, but in this case I wonder if some of that is true to the original?

Take a look at this link from google.  Lots of Evian bottles

Thanks phil, unfortunately the evian logo is always in lower case.... this bottle is in upper case.  That is not the same bottle...i wish it was the same bottle.  I spent a lot of time on the web trying to find the bottle.!

MB,

In the B/W that JesterJeni showed, you have enough detail to work with and then colorize the bottle back in, but my feeling is to delete the bottle. I normally would not have a photo changed from the original, but I think anything you add is not going to look right. Plus, the more I look at the photo the bigger the distraction the bottle becomes. Is it just me or does the bottle look large in comparison to the girl?

I say remove the bottle. It appears the bottle is a lot closer to the camera.

I agree. The bottle is a distraction from the cute little girl.
Can't imagine that it would be missed. Someone else must
have been holding it.

Thanks, for the suggestions...
Yes, the bottle is closer to the camera that the girl.  You can tell the camera was focused on the bottle.  I know that I have enough detail to bring most of the bottle back.  The bottle will stand out more that the girl even if i play the saturation on the bottle ( already try that).  I do not know who has the last say on removing the bottle, is it you Margie?

So, since 3 of you approved the removal the bottle....does that mean I can go ahead & replace it with the ocean?  Smiley

Right MB, when you get permission to remove a damaged item from the original image, then you want the image to look the way it would have if the object had never been in the scene to begin with. That also makes the restoration a little easier since you're going to 'cover it up' with adjacent portions of the image, in this case, the ocean. If you can, use bits of the ocean right next to the bottle. If you end up having to use the ocean on the other side of the girl, make sure the hue/sat blends in properly with that side of the image. Keep us posted on your progress!

I think I am getting close!!  What do you think?  The only different on the last to images is the saturation...I have a hard time with this.  Let me know which one you like best.   Let me know if you see anything else wrong.   Cheesy

Well it looks to me that the photo is still slightly over saturated.  I took your photo and desaturated it even more.

Good Job on your restore.
