Hi Everyone,

I received word today from Pete Hood's wife, Karee, that Pete Hood passed away in July of this year. Pete was awaiting a liver transplant, but because of complications was too sick to undergo the surgery. He fought hard clear up until the end, but lost the battle. He will not be forgotten.

I would like to share what Karee wrote:

Hold the ones you love a bit longer & a bit tighter tonight. Tell them how much you love them. Extra kisses. Let those irritating actions that drive you crazy...slide....appreciate that they are there with you. Take care of each other. And..... Fill out that donor card on the back of your driver's license.
Pete's family held a lovely memorial service for family and friends down south and I plan to have a gathering here in NYC to celebrate the life he was so passionate about, probably sometime in September or October.

Pete felt so passionately about OPR and all that you do, so in lieu of flowers I would like to ask friends & family to donate to OPR in Pete’s memory.  I am planning to give out the www.operationphotorescue.org  email as the best way to do this. Please let me know if there are any other directions I should include that would help expedite donations. I am very pleased that he had the opportunity to join you on the Galveston Run. Pete spoke with such fondness about all of you…. his OPR “family”.

 Love to all,
Karee Hood

I am so glad that I got to know Pete from the Galveston run and we will missed him very much! Karee, you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Margie

This photo of Pete (hoodman3) at the Galveston copy run was taken after a hard days work.  The group all went out to dinner and celebrate.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Pete in Galveston. Pete embodied everything that's good about OPR – everyday people giving their time and effort to help another.

OPR lost one of its best. Rest easy Pete.

We've lost a wonderful volunteer with Pete's passing.  I only wish I'd gotten to meet him.  I certainly enjoyed interacting with him on the forum.  My best wishes and condolences to his family, and my gratitude to them for asking for donations to OPR in Pete's name.  I think he's probably smiling about that.  He and Ray can compare notes while they're with the angels. He will be missed.
