I have been plugging away with my current restoration. I concentrated on her face and hair mostly. It's not perfect yet, but now I'm kind of stuck on her dress. I need some kind of a guide, like a picture of a similar dress. I have been searching on the web, but so far no luck.
This is how she looks right now:

this is the original:

Any suggestions on how to deal with her dress? Thanks in advance for trying to help  I love it!

Two comments but I am not sure they are much help

The hue of the yellow towards the bottom right of the image is almost the same as the main part of the dress so it looks to be part of the original dress. As I have demonstrated, I am no help with fashion, sorry.

That raises the question of where is her left arm, surely she wouldn't have been photographed with her arm behind her but I can't see any sign of it.

Good luck, be interested to see where you get to

Thank you for your comments, Athol.

You are absolutely right, she should have a left arm. I posted the picture before and I should have put a link to the previous discussion in my new post. Here it is:

Hi Gerlinde,

By now I have seen so many toddlers in puffsleeved-dress photos that I'm crossed eyed!   Cheesy
It was impossible to find one that was at the same angle and with the same puffy sleeves with the extra frill in the inset of the sleeve.  I used to make dresses like that for my girls but when I went through my photo albums there was not one usable photo.
Then I looked thought the OPR archives, photos that were done in the past and I found this portrait.  The little girl is wearing a similar dress and I flipped it horizontally so she is even facing the same direction.

Hope it can be of some help!

Hannie

That is so funny!  I didn't realize when I posted it, this photo is one of the very early copy runs and it was in my gallery when you picked it as well!

Do you think this may be the first sign....   Smiley

I think, I have taken this photo as far as I can. The dress looks a bit painted, but than it is.   Smiley

I'm open to suggestions, please let me know what you think.

As always, I'm very grateful for any critique.

Gerlinde

By the way, Hannie, the original has no color profile attached. Could you please check and tell me what to do. Thanks

Hi Gerlinde,

The dress turned out great!
Perhaps her hair could be brightened a little, not on top but further down?
You can convert to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 before you upload.

Thanks,

 Thumbs Up v.2

Thanks, Hannie.

You are right, the hair needs some more work. It looked better on my other computer monitor. Hair can be sooo difficult.....  Huh?
