Not sure how this works here... I joined around the first of this year and had a few successful restorations.  I got stuck on a hard one, and shame on me, I just gave up.  No excuses.  I didn't communicate, my bad.

Months passed, and now I've tried to reconnect.  I've asked for a photo, emailed both Margie and Hannie - no responses to anything.  At all.

So, am I banned for bad behavior?  Or is everyone just out of pocket?  Inquiring minds would like to know.

Best,

John

John,

I did a search of all my emails from you in my OPR mail and found only 8 emails and not a one from you with any type of message of trying to "reconnect." Since March 21, I have received 3 three emails from you with "pass-along-unrelated-to-OPR" messages with jokes, photos, etc. Of the three, I was included along with 22 other people with one of your attachments: Global Village that had a size of 2,029k. I know that Hannie has also received these and has asked you to cease as she was afraid of picking up spam with all the others on the email. Plus, we receive a huge amount of emails and it would be better to leave our OPR mail for OPR matters.

I am also curious when you say months passed and you got no response. Were you not aware that for a long stretch of time any comments you left asking for a photo in PhotoShelter would not be visible to us? You should have seen that in the forum and also in a newsletter that I sent out to everyone. Around May of this year all photos in my gallery would have been moved over to Hannie's and Tess' due to the death of my husband. From May on, I would not have had any photos for you to request out of my gallery.

As I mentioned before, there is no record of your sending me any emails requesting a photo. If you had forwarded on emails with jokes, pictures, etc. from others---maybe it went to my spam folder and got deleted. So you see, you haven't been banned and yes, you haven't communicate the best. Hope this helps all inquiring minds.

Best,

Margie

John, your post leaves me puzzled.  I have reacted to all of your joke emails (I still have them) and there were no requests in them for anything related to OPR.
I always answer my email, even if it takes an extra day or so.
I have no clue as to what you are talking about and find your post misleading.

"Banning for bad behaviour"?  somehow that doesn't sound like such a bad idea....

I'm not at home now, but I'm sure that I can reproduce the emails that I sent you, asking to start contributing again.  I had long since stopped sending you joke emails.

I did not really think it best to go public with this matter, but I got no response to my earlier emails to you.  Please let me know if you have continued use for my services.

John, feel free to forward that email(s) on to me at mhayes@operationphotorescue.org, but it is not going to change the fact that I did not receive any of them—except for your last email dated Aug 7 with a forwarded photos of 2 Moons. You say that you sent an email asking to contribute again—all you had to do was go to the galleries and request a photo. If you did that, did you request 3 in case another volunteer would have asked for a particular photo first? When you make a comment on a photo in PhotoShelter for a photo, we are able to see it under the photo, but we do NOT receive that comment in a form of an email.

If you don't get a response, then post your question to my office or Hannie’s to ask if we received your email. Don’t wait months and then post to the New Volunteer Welcome Center with comments directed to us that are not true.  I realize that it can be frustrating, but I expect volunteers to be professional and to air their grievances the same way. If you can do that, then yes, your services would be appreciated. If not, then you know the answer to your question.

Margie,

I will attempt to clarify my original post.  I waited months to try to reconnect; that was unfortunate on my part because I didn't complete my assignment.  In my email that I thought I sent you, I apologized for failing to complete my assignment and letting it drop on the ground.  Evidently, I did not send it correctly.

I followed up with Hannie, and received no response.  Thus, my rather poorly executed whimsical post here.  I will look over the message board and see if I can discern what has changed in the protocol.

John,

Unfortunately I never received your email in August for the photo you took out in March and had no way of knowing you were awaiting my response. Since I had no way of knowing you were trying to be "whimsical" (please put a disclaimer on those); I was less than delighted.

Pass the peace pipe!    Wink
