I need some advice and some suggestions on what would be a good monitor at a decent price. I had hopes that I could find what the problem with my Sony Artisan Monitor and the calibration. This is a CRT and I have been very happy with it. I calibrate once a month (required) or sooner if needed, but this time I get 3/4 of the way through and get this message:
The following message appears: " An error has been detected during calibration. Please allow the display to warm up completely. The room light should be dim and constant throughout the calibration process. The Artisan Color Reference Display ;will be restored to its previous condition."
And the two remedies:
(1) The calibration was successful, but one or more of the values targeted by the Artisan software was not within tolerances. Acknowledge and rerun application. If, after repeated tries, the application continues to display this message, reboot and try again. If values are still not within tolerance, choose a less extreme colorspace, and try again.
(2) If your display is over two years old, then it may not be able to match the luminosity required by the calibration system.
Since I do not have it set to an extreme colorspace; I'm left thinking it must be #2 since this CRT is 6 years old and I had hoped that it would be good for 10 years. Anyone care to guess on this? Unfortunately Sony no longer makes the CRT and help is out of the question.
Next question, any recommendation for a good monitor that would come with calibration? I do not want to spend as much as I did for this monitor. I have looked at the LaCie 320 20" LCD, but the prices are all over the board! I can't believe the same place on-line can have a price ranging from $738 to over a $1,000.
The good news: I won't be able to tell if your restored photos are color corrected!
