I owned a few suit vests but none of them had lapels.  Any idea how the lapel lines supposed be?
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Schen. Heres a link to many lapel style vests, very similar to what you're working on. http://www.westernemporium.com/store/oldwest_vests.php

Thanks Tassie.  I know we have experts for everything in this organization.  All the pointy lapels have notches.  I will tailor one for the young beau.

edited: I overlaid a few vests from the catalog on the photo and the notches were all covered by the lapel of the jacket.

Hmmm.....some of the older cowboys in Montana are still wearing these vests!  Where's MJ?  She's done a lot of these old time photos.

I would figure the its not notched. Notched collars tend to be very staight and crisp with no curve in the seamed edges. There's always an exception, but I used to make jackets and vests. Plus as you said, the notch probably wouldn't show. Smiley

Schen, I would say its probably along the lines of the "Dwayne" vest in the link that Tess posted.
