Dave,

Has any thought been given to providing the owners of these photos with a CD of the digital files?  The reason I ask is that it would seem apparent that they don't have the negatives, otherwise we wouldn't be doing this.

It is just that I have noticed that a lot of the small photos, could be successfully printed at larger sizes, and as they may not have a lot of photos having the digital copies would give them the option of having extras printed at larger sizes if they wished.

I know the added cost may detract from funds available for other expenses, postage etc, However given the option they may be prepared to pay a small fee to cover the costs involved, and would only need to be provided for those who wanted the service.

Max,

This has been an idea discussed many times since the inception of OPR. The short answer is no. The blanket reason is copyright issues. We are getting by on the fact that we replace a print with a print.

If we were to provide digital files of a copyrighted images, we'd be opening ourselves up for possible trouble.

In cases in which copyright wouldn't be an issue (i.e. family snapshots), we'd be adding more work for ourselves in an already overworked (and slow) process.

If we were ever to have a larger administrative staff, then we might be able to do something like this in the future. For now, it's just not feasible.

Dave

ps: Thanks for trying to find new ways for OPR to be more effective. Keep that thinking cap on.

Thanks Dave, answers the question. I hadn't thought about the copyright issue. Embarrassed
