Well we can now add Iraq to our ever expanding global community. I just welcomed a new volunteer serving there as a member of the U.S. armed forces.

Dave, that's awesome!

As if our beloved troops aren't doing enough above and beyond, now we have one in OPR.  Welcome soldier (sailor, AF, marine??) and thank you for being part of our effort.

I suspect that KlassyLady, our military expert, is also going to be especially proud. (I'm a Navy brat married to a Viet Nam marine veteran -- needless to say I'm happy you're aboard.  But I do have a message from hubby.  "You're in the military.  You should know better than to volunteer!"  I'm glad you did!)

You guys and gals truly are the best!  Stay safe and know that you're in our hearts and in our prayers!  Happy Thanksgiving.

Bless

Welcome to our Iraq member. May you stay safe over there.

Here you go Dave. I couldn't find an animated stewie for world domination so I made one.

Tassie,

You are now officially my favorite OPR volunteer. You'll never know how much Stewie means to me.

Glenna, you're very very right!  It's a job that everyone fusses about but few have the fortitude to work it.  Things are turning for that country and it's because we haven't given up and given in.  Our men and women do believe in what their doing.  I not only welcome him/her, I embrace him/her.  Now having said that.... I can also say.. can't wait until we see their name up in lights.  Friendships start when we all come together.

So here's a big fat "salute" and welcome!!!   Kiss

Thank you all for the warm welcomes!  It's always nice to hear the great support from back home.  I am so glad that I can help out, and improve my skills at the same time.

A little about myself...  I graduated from Minnesota State University with a BA in History and a minor in Art.  Weird I know, but I really enjoy art and graphic design.  I was commissioned in the Army immediately following graduation and have been in the Army over 2.5 years.  I am in charge of a refuel platoon for the aviation brigade from the 3d Infantry Division out of Savannah, GA.  Hopefully I will make some new friends while helping out.

Take care!

Brian,

I'm so happy you found the Forum and I think you will enjoy posting to it. If you ever get stuck on a restoration, post it here and we will help out.

I spent a year in Savannah, GA while working as a contractor for Gulfstream. It is such a pretty place to be especially in the spring. It took some getting used to the humidity.

Be Careful!

Hello Brian and welcome to OPR!

My name is Jan Neil, and I am one of the distribution coordinators for OPR.  You are really going to enjoy this group.  There is a lot to learn, and much to give back.

I look forward to hearing from you, and thank you for your service to our country.

Hi Brian,

We're glad to have you a part of our group.  I'm one of the other distribution coordinators, and am in charge of the spot/grunge/snowflake/bubble machine!  In case you don't know what this is yet, you'll soon realize that when you download these damaged photos, you'll find them covered in...spots/grunge/snowflakes and bubbles, and sometimes, the Rorschach test!

Hi Brian

I'm glad you posted so we know your name and what you're doing while on duty.

If it's weird to love graphic design and art, you're now in partnership with a world-wide group of nut-cases!  Just by joining OPR you've ensured yourself a globe-spanning group of friends, and if you continue posting you're likely to be made fun of, typographically abused, lampooned and given a ton of grief –but in a very LOVING way.

I guarantee your restoration work won't be treated with anything but respect and the joy we all take in helping a fellow volunteer who's been trampled by one of the mucker-upper machines created by the diabolical team of Chris, Jan and Margie.

Hugs (get used to it!)

Welcome Lieutenant!

I spent 9+ years in the Army (emerging a staff sergeant) and I absolutely promise <cough> not to make any cutting remarks about junior officers, logistics weenies, or people from Blizzard County, Minnesota.  I think that covers everything Smiley    You'll like it here and as a bonus you'll learn from everyone.  Glad to have you with us!!

Welcome Brian.  You are lucky to have your personal computer while in service.  When I was a junior officer, we did not have personal computer.

Actually, personal computers were not invented yet  Too Funny
